Awarding Commitment
Scholarships
We will be awarding one (1) $5,000 Cecilia Wahl health care scholarship sponsored and funded solely by the Local Council of Women through generous donations from our members and named after a former LCW president and member of the Bloomington Hospital Board who was very active in the community and her profession.
We will be awarding five (5) $1,000 healthcare scholarships co-sponsored by the Local Council of Women (LCW) and the Bloomington Health Foundation (BHF), to students who demonstrate academic promise, service, and a commitment to pursuing a career in healthcare.
In honor of Nancy Lumbley, a long-time educator who championed student learning and a lifelong friend of LCW, we proudly offer one (1) $5,000 Nancy Lumbley Scholarship. This scholarship supports individuals at the start of their healthcare journey. It is awarded to a student who demonstrates promise, dedication, and a commitment to service in healthcare, public health, or first response.

Presentation
Cecilia Wahl and Joint Scholarships:
Nancy Lumbley Scholarship:
“It is such an honor to receive this scholarship! It will help not only with tuition, but also with gasoline expenses, as I commute daily from Bloomington to my classes in Indianapolis."
“My part-time job, along with the financial support from my husband, are still not enough to cover the out-of-state tuition I must currently pay. In asking you to invest in me, it is my sincere hope that after I receive my degree, I can turn around and repay that investment to the women of our community ten-fold."
“Because of people like you, I have been able to do what I have so far, for which I am extremely grateful.”
“I am so very grateful for the Cecilia Wahl scholarship and for organizations that reach out to help health care students.”
